Atari 7800
The Atari 7800 was re-released in 1986 after the fall of Atari, Inc. by the newly formed Atari Corporation. The system was meant to succeed where the Atari 5200 had failed. The console not only plays all the new 7800 games, but was backwards-compatible with most every 2600 game. The controller was a joystick with two fire buttons, one on each side. It origianlly retailed at $140 making it cheaper than it's predecessors. Even though the system was rather profitable for Atari it ulimately lost out to the original Nintendo by the early 90's.
