Atari 5200

The Atari 5200 was the successor to the original Atari 2600. It was introduced into retail in November 1982. The system was created to compete with the INtellivision, yet never really saw much success. The 5200 did feature an innovative new controller with an analog joystick, numeric keypad, two fire buttons on both sides of the controller, and game function keys for Start, Pause, and Reset. The latter of which lead to future systems using a Start and Select button. The system was short lived and sold barely over a million units in it's life time, but is best known for it's near perfect conversions of popular arcade titles.
